COVER THE WIDER TYRES YOU JUST FITTED TO YOUR 76
BIGGER TYRES NEED BIGGER GUARDS
Most 76 owners eventually fit wider tyres. For better off-road traction, a stronger stance, or both. The moment those wider treads extend past the factory guards, two things become problems. The tyres now throw stones and mud sideways into the body, peppering the doors and rocker panels with chip damage that turns into rust. And the wagon technically falls foul of registration rules requiring the tyre tread to be fully covered by the guards. Fender flares fix both at once. They extend the guard line outwards over the wider tyre, protecting the bodywork and bringing the wagon back into compliance.
FIBREGLASS, FLEXIBLE COLOUR FINISH
Our flares are moulded from fibreglass, the right material because it holds its shape in extreme Australian heat, can be sanded and painted to match the wagon body colour, and can be repaired in the field if you scrape it on a track. Each flare follows the exact guard contour of the 76 body for a flush fit with no gaps. Textured black finishes work straight out of the box. Painted gel-coat finishes accept colour-matching at a panel shop. Mounting uses factory holes or supplied marker hardware with no permanent body modification.
FRONT AND REAR FOR HZJ, VDJ, AND GDJ
Front and rear flare sets are available individually or together. Front flares share dimensions with the 78 Troopy and 79 Series of the same era because Toyota used the same front guard profile across the body styles. Rear flares are wagon-specific. HZJ76, VDJ76, and GDJ76 each have flares matched to the era's guard shape. Each listing confirms exact body style and year fitment. Often paired with mudflaps and weather shields as a complete exterior package.
