OIL CATCH CANS FOR THE 70 SERIES LAND CRUISER

KEEP OIL VAPOUR OUT OF THE INTAKE

An oil catch can intercepts the oily vapour that the crankcase ventilation system would otherwise feed straight back into the intake of a 70 Series Land Cruiser. On a hard-worked turbo diesel, that vapour mixes with soot and bakes onto the inlet manifold, intercooler, and valves, slowly choking airflow and dulling response. The catch can traps that oil in a separate reservoir before it reaches the intake, keeping the inlet tract clean over the long haul. For owners touring loaded or towing heavy, fitting a catch can is one of the cheapest ways to protect engine performance and reduce the carbon buildup that comes with high kilometres.

BILLET ALUMINIUM WITH BAFFLED INTERNALS

Oil catch cans in this collection are machined from billet aluminium, anodised for corrosion resistance and finished to suit the engine bay. Internally, baffles and filter media separate the oil from the crankcase gases so liquid drops out and collects in the reservoir while clean air continues to the intake. A drain tap or removable base makes emptying the captured oil a quick service job. Each kit is supplied with OEM-spec hose, clamps, and a vehicle-specific mounting bracket so the can fits the factory crankcase ventilation routing without cutting or fabrication. The result is a tidy, sealed install that follows the original breather layout closely.

ENGINE AND ERA FITMENT NOTES

Catch can fitment depends on engine and the crankcase ventilation design, which varies across the 70 Series body styles including the 75 Series, 76 Wagon, 78 Troopy, 79 Single Cab and 79 Dual Cab. The common-rail 1VD-FTV V8 of 2007 to 2023 is the most common application, with a clear split between the Pre-DPF era of 2007 to 2016 and the DPF era of 2016 to 2023, where intake fouling is a particular concern. The 1GD-FTV 2.8L facelift from 2024 and the older 1HZ use different breather arrangements again. Always confirm your engine code and build year before ordering, as brackets and hose kits are engine-specific.
